Forfar Galvanisers, established in 2000, is a leader in the galvanising industry with a team of 18 dedicated staff. The company sets itself apart by employing innovative environmental systems that are unique within the sector. We are committed to delivering industrial efficiency while minimising environmental impact, staying true to our promise of sustainability.

The business is operated by David Ritchie (Implements) Ltd., an engineering company based in Forfar. The venture was initiated by Jim Watt Ritchie, who founded the plant after experiencing frustrations with the quality and delays from existing galvanising vendors. When told, “If you don’t like it, do it yourself,” he took the challenge and created a solution.

Our facility is home to Scotland’s widest galvanising bath, with working dimensions of 5.2m in length, 1.35m width, & 2.4m depth. The system can handle individual items weighing up to 1 ton.

This capacity allows us to accommodate a diverse range of projects – from large-scale structural steelwork to intricate architectural components: all galvanised in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461, ensuring consistent quality and industry-recognised standards compliance.

The plant has an automated handling system which reduces the risk of processing/handling damage & provides a constant flow of material throughout the process. The automated handling system works together with a Swedish designed air emission cleaning system ensuring a environmentally conscious operation.

One notable client is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), for whom Forfar Galvanisers has become a trusted partner, providing high-quality galvanising services to meet their exacting standards.
